JGA Brings Home The Green In The Inaugural A.R.E. Sustainability Awards
Jul 07, 2009 - International retail strategy and design firm, JGA was honored to receive two awards in the A.R.E. (Association of Retail Environments) Sustainability Awards competition. In the “Project of the Year “ category, The North Face’s new store in Boise took Second Place honors for recognition of the sustainable elements and efforts featured in the restoration process. The Timberland PRO trade-show exhibit booth was recognized with a special “Creative Use of Reusable Materials” Award for its targeted “end of life” approach focused on the booth’s recyclability after its five year life span.
JGA chairman, Ken Nisch commented about The North Face and the design’s commitment to sustainability, “This is the largest store they have done in terms of sustainability with materials chosen for optimum energy use and air quality rating. Also, every effort was made during demolition and restoration to recycle and reuse organic materials.”
Regarding the sustainability focus in the Timberland PRO design, Mr. Nisch noted that, “83% of the booth is eco-conscious; 60% recycled materials, 4% reused and 19% renewable with over 80% of the booth recyclable at the end of its targeted life span.”
